Start your journey to the Cu Chi Tunnels by leaving your hotel around 8 a.m. You will travel through the countryside that used to be a stronghold of the Viet Cong. When you arrive, you will watch a short video about what life was like for the soldiers during the war.
The small tunnels played a key role in important battles, including the famous 1968 Tet Offensive, and they were damaged by American B52 bombers, which left big craters. The tunnels were not only homes but also served as supply routes and hospitals for many guerrilla fighters. Sadly, many people died there from malaria and other illnesses, but some were also born or married in the tunnels. Today, they are seen by many as a symbol of the strength and resilience of the Vietnamese people.
You will return to Ho Chi Minh City by 12:30 p.m., just in time for a late lunch at your hotel.
