Itinerary idea in detail

  • Day 1

Welcome to Vietnam! Your journey starts in Ho Chi Minh City with a welcome meeting at 6 pm tonight. If you get there early, you can explore the city on foot. Check out Pham Ngu Lao Street for the local market or visit Vinh Nghiem Pagoda. You could also visit an amusement park or try a delicious Banh mi sandwich. After the meeting, you can join your group for an optional welcome dinner.

  • Day 2

In the morning, you’ll take a bus to the Mekong Delta, which is called the ‘rice bowl of Vietnam.’ This area is famous for growing fruits, flowers, and rice. You’ll start your first full day of cycling, riding on quiet roads past farms and villages. You’ll stop for lunch and also visit orchards and small local businesses. In the evening, you’ll travel by boat along one of the canals to your homestay. There, you’ll stay with a local family, enjoy a homemade dinner of local dishes, and experience a slice of local life.

  • Day 3

Start your day early with a boat ride before taking a bus to Sadec by the river. Begin your cycling journey there, exploring the lively riverside settlements. See how local life revolves around the river. Stop for lunch in a nearby community. After cycling and taking a ferry, hop on a bus to Chau Doc near the Cambodian border. Once there, try the city’s famous hot noodles and a cold beer. You have the evening free to explore or relax at the hotel.

  • Day 4

Ride your bike to Tinh Bien, the last town in Vietnam before crossing into Cambodia. After lunch, go through border procedures and enter Cambodia. Meet your new support team and cycle towards Phnom Penh. The route includes dusty rural roads and a paved highway leading to the capital. In Phnom Penh, enjoy a free evening to savor delicious Cambodian dishes like grilled seafood, fish curry, and green mango salad, as the city is known for its culinary delights.

  • Day 5

Today, you’ll take a quick ferry ride and then enjoy a relaxing day cycling around Mekong Island. This island is famous for traditional crafts, and you can check out local artisans selling silk, pottery, and wood items. Ride past temples and stop at a roadside stall for a drink. Cycle through small villages, rice fields, and fruit orchards before heading back to the mainland for the evening.

  • Day 6

Today, you’ll visit important historical sites in Cambodia. Start at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former school turned into a Khmer Rouge torture center. Explore where many people were imprisoned and tortured. Then, go to the Choeung Ek Memorial, known as the Killing Fields, where a stupa with human skulls commemorates the victims. Finish by visiting the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda to learn about Cambodia’s brighter history.

  • Day 7

Prepare for a lengthy drive to Siem Reap today. Enjoy the scenic rural views from your bus window, passing through small towns and countryside. Engage in some road trip games, read a book, or catch up on rest during the journey. Upon arrival, feel free to ask your local guide for recommended dinner spots to enjoy a meal in Siem Reap.

  • Day 8

Today, you’ll visit the Angkor Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Southeast Asia. Explore the ancient temples, including the towering Angkor Wat and the Bayon Temple. After parking your bikes, take a walk through Angkor Wat and then cycle to the Bayon Temple. Finally, visit Ta Phrom temple, where nature has intertwined with the ruins, creating a unique and enchanting atmosphere reminiscent of an Indiana Jones adventure.

  • Day 9

Today, you will journey to Banteay Srei, a 10th-century temple devoted to the Hindu god Shiva. Known for its intricate carvings, this temple was rediscovered in 1914 and restored using traditional methods. After your visit, you will have a free afternoon and evening in Siem Reap to enjoy at your own pace – whether exploring the area or relaxing at the hotel.

  • Day 10

Today, leave Siem Reap early and head to the Cambodia-Thailand border at Poipet/Aranyaprathet. The crossing will take about 4 hours, including travel and border procedures. After crossing, you’ll go to Tha Kabark Dam for a swim and lunch. Then, continue cycling to Sa Kaeo, where you’ll spend the night.

  • Day 11

Rise early today and head to the local market to witness Buddhist monks receiving food from villagers in exchange for blessings. You can participate by offering alms to the monks. Then, spend the day cycling along mostly flat terrain towards Kabinburi district. Enjoy views of rubber tree and tapioca plantations, as well as lush rice fields along the way.

  • Day 12

Today, you’ll drive to a rural village and start cycling for your last full day. Ride towards Khun Dan Dam, Thailand’s biggest dam, passing villages, fields, and shops. Stop for lunch and a swim at the dam. Then, pack up, take a private ride to Bangkok – your final stop. Consider joining your guide and group for a dinner to celebrate the end of your journey!

  • Day 13

After breakfast today, your adventure ends with no scheduled activities. If you want to stay longer, contact your booking agent to arrange more accommodation. If you’re staying in Bangkok, consider taking a riverboat to Chinatown, exploring Khao San Road, or visiting Wat Pho to see the big reclining Buddha statue.
