Krabi’s Beautiful Islands and Beaches

Krabi is known for its colorful longtail boats in blue-green waters. It’s on Thailand’s southeast coast with jungles, sandy beaches, and warm water. There are over 150 limestone islands with jungles and mangroves.

Krabi Town and Nearby Hills

Krabi Town is by the Krabi River and has cafés, shops, and hotels. It still feels like an old fishing port. The town has an airport and offers boat trips, snorkeling, and diving tours. Nearby, two hills called Khao Khanap Nam look like shark fins above the water.

The hills and islands have caves with old paintings of stick figures, crocodiles, and lobsters, dating back to ancient times. Some caves have paintings of Chinese ships and longtail boats that are a few hundred years old. A guided canoe tour is a great way to see these paintings and the caves’ stalagmites and stalactites.

Explore the Islands

You can visit other islands by taking a private longtail boat tour. Koh Kai (Chicken Island) has a rock that looks like a chicken and a sandbar you can walk on at low tide. You can also snorkel near the coral and see colorful fish.

For great snorkeling and diving, go to Phi Phi National Marine Park, especially Ko Phi-Phi Leh island. The water is clear and surrounded by limestone cliffs.

Rock Climbing in Krabi

Krabi is also a top spot for rock climbing. You can learn climbing, abseiling, and rappelling at Railay Beach with great views of the Andaman Sea.

Day Trips to Phang Nga Bay

From Krabi, you can visit Phang Nga Bay for a day trip. The bay has wetlands, coral reefs, mangroves, and limestone islands rising out of the sea. It’s part of Ao Phang Nga National Park and mostly untouched, but you can find fishing villages with fresh seafood.

Private boat tours can take you to quiet spots in the bay. You can explore hidden lagoons, quiet beaches, and use kayaks to see caves and mangrove forests up close.
